Chubu Electric Power Co.,Inc.

Taking the disaster at the Fukushima Daiichi and Fukushima Daini Nuclear Power Stations belonging to the Tokyo Electric Power Co., Inc. as a result of the Tohoku-Pacific Ocean Earthquake into consideration, Chubu Electric Power is improving its margin of safety against tsunami and preparing for emergency situations by immediately putting generator trucks into position, ensuring that we possess backup motors for seawater pumps, and establishing emergency procedures for situations in which all AC power supplies are lost.

In addition, we have held emergency drills based on these measures to enhance our ability to respond.

We have today received "Directions concerning the Implementation of Emergency Safety Measures at Other Nuclear Power Stations following the Accidents at the Fukushima Daiichi and Daini Nuclear Power Stations in 2011" from the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, requiring reporting on the status of implementation of emergency safety measures and changes to safety regulations.

Chubu Electric Power views the instructions contained in this document with the requisite seriousness, and we will take the appropriate responses in the near future. These responses will be carefully and fully explained to the residents of the regions in which we are located.

We will continue to gather information on the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, and we will implement appropriate responses on the basis of our findings.
