Launch of Sea Wall Construction at the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station

Chubu Electric Power has been carrying out tsunami countermeasures for the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station that reflect the knowledge learned heretofore, including that gained from the accident caused by the Tohoku-Pacific Ocean Earthquake at the Tokyo Electric Power Co., Inc.'s Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station.
As one of these countermeasures, we have been carrying out surveys and preparatory work and preparatory work on the main body for the building of a sea wall on the seaward side of the site. This is to announce that today we began construction work on the main body of the sea wall including construction of the foundation and walls.
We will make every effort to continue steadily carrying out construction work as a tsunami countermeasure and explain these measures thoroughly so that the local community and the rest of society can feel reassured.
