Press Release
Planned development of Shin-Kushihara hydroelectric power station
June 10, 2013
Chubu Electric Power Co.,Inc.
Chubu Electric Power would like to announce plans to construct a regular water-flow release hydroelectric power station directly below the Yahagi No. 2 Dam, which is owned by Chubu Electric Power. The new power station will utilize both dam head and water release for power generation.
Chubu Electric Power has been continuing to develop renewable energy in the light of diversifying energy sources and addressing the problem of global warming.
In line with these goals, we have decided to construct Shin-Kushihara Hydroelectric Power Station, a regular water-flow release hydroelectric power station with 220 kW generating capacity, directly below Yahagi No. 2 Dam. Operation is planned to begin in FY2015.
As we proceed with development work, we shall be grateful for the understanding and cooperation of the local authority and local residents.
For the future, Chubu Electric Power will engage in continuing development of conventional and regular water-flow release hydroelectric power, a renewable energy source that promises stable electricity output. Also, to increase output and electricity production, we are making systematic improvements to existing hydroelectric power station facilities.
