Concerning reporting of CO2 Emissions Intensity (FY2013) in Accordance with the Act on Promotion of Global Warming Countermeasures

July 29, 2014
Chubu Electric Power Co.,Inc.

Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. has reported its CO2 emissions intensity (CO2 emissions against volume of power used) for FY2013 to the government in accordance with the Act on Promotion of Global Warming Countermeasures.

The CO2 emissions intensity for FY2013 was 0.509kg-CO2/kWh*, an increase of 36.5% compared to FY2012.

This increase is due to a considerable cut of CO2 emissions intensity in FY2012, reflecting approximately 18 million tons of CO2 credits, being the final year of a voluntary target reduction of 20% for the CO2 emissions intensity between FY2008 – FY 2012 against figures for FY1990.
The FY2013 CO2 emissions intensity prior to the reflection of CO2 credits, etc., was 0.513kg-CO2/kWh, on a similar level of performance as FY2012.

Chubu Electric will continue to pursue the optimal energy mix, and strive to reduce CO2 emissions.

* This figure represents emissions intensity after deduction of Kyoto Mechanism credits, etc. from actual CO2 emissions in accordance with the Act on Promotion of Global Warming Countermeasures (CO2 emissions intensity following adjustment).

The figure reported to the government is a provisional figure. Figures for CO2 emissions intensity for individual electric utilities based on the System for Calculation, Reporting, and Announcement of Emissions of Greenhouse Gases will be separately published by the government.
