Naming of the LNG carrier (third ship of Chubu Electric)

Today, Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. ("Chubu Electric Power") gave the name "Bishumaru" to the new LNG carrier ship (Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ship No. 1713) constructed by Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. at their Sakaide Shipyard. This vessel is to be owned by Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. ("Kawasaki Kisen") and chartered by Chubu Electric Power*1.

The ship's name "Bishumaru" is derived from "Owari," an old province that used to exist in the western part of present-day Aichi Prefecture.This region serves as the location of our LNG receiving terminals (Chita).

Following the "Seishumaru" and "Esshumaru," this ship will be the third vessel acting as a long-term charter LNG transport ship for the projects in Australia*2.After completion, we are expecting for the ship to be used for projects in the United States, etc., in addition to Australia.

We will continue our efforts towards flexible and efficient LNG transport in the future in order to deliver a stable supply of safe and affordable energy to our customers.

*JERA Co., Inc. has succeeded Chubu Electric Power's fuel transportation business this October.
