Toshiba Carrier Corporation (President & CEO: Hirokazu Kondo; Headquarters: Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture) and Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. (President & Director: Satoru Katsuno; Headquarters: Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture) jointly developed Super Power Eco Gold P224 and P280, which are store- or office-geared air conditioner exterior units that boast the industry's best energy conservation performance.

The products will be released from Toshiba Carrier in April 2016.

Calls for environmental measures and energy conservation are on the rise, and as the data evidently shows that air conditioning accounts for nearly half of the energy consumed at most stores and offices, air conditioners with higher energy-saving performances are in need.

Researches on the operating conditions of previous air conditioner models installed in stores and offices show that low-load (i.e. powers at 30% or less than maximum capacity) operation constitutes a major part of the devices' running hours, and these air conditioners also control temperatures by turning operations on and off under low-load modes (i.e. intermittent operations).

This resulted in the issue of energy loss occurrences, and thus needed to be remedied.

The compressor, inverter, and other components were refined for this newly developed model, thereby achieving the industry's best energy conservation performance.

The new model can reduce energy-losing occasions by exerting control over the intermittent operation under low-load modes.

Also its body has been successfully downsized, resulting in smaller installation space and weight.
