Commission Received for "The Project for Capacity Development of Power Transmission and Distribution System in Republic of The Union of Myanmar (Phase 1) "

May 27, 2016
Chubu Electric Power Co.,Inc.

Chubu Electric Power today accepted an assignment together with Nippon Koei Co., Ltd., from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to perform a "The Project for Capacity Development of Power Transmission and Distribution System in Republic of The Union of Myanmar (Phase 1:Note) ."

Myanmar's power supply has been unstable, as observed in its frequent power transmission/distribution equipment failures resulting from both capacity shortage and aging, and the country consequentially is in urgent need to improve and develop such power equipment. Moreover, Myanmar must also step up its transmission/distribution-related skills on construction and safety to prevent industrial accidents or electric shock accidents involving citizens.

To address these circumstances, Myanmar's Ministry of Electricity and Energy is seeking to strengthen the capabilities of the country's power transmission/distribution engineers in an effort to both improve power supply reliability and to develop electric power infrastructures such as power transmission/distribution lines and substations.

Chubu Electric Power will work on this commissioned project by harnessing the experience and knowledge on engineer training, as well as power transmission/distribution equipment development and maintenance skills, which the company has cultivated thus far. Overseas consulting business including this commissioned undertaking will be integrated into JERA Co., Inc. this July.

With overseas consulting business, Chubu Electric Power will continue to serve to the development and sophistication of foreign nations with a focus on Asian and African developing countries.
