Chubu Electric Power Co.,Inc.

On October 12, a fire broke out in the underground transmission cable that supplies power to central Tokyo, consequently triggering a power outage. Under instructions issued by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) in view of this incident, Chubu Electric Power conducted an emergency inspection on the company's underground transmission equipment. The results were today reported to METI.

The underground transmission equipment in question refers to an approximately 30 km-long, 275,000 V oil-filled cable and a roughly 7 km-long pipe-type oil-filled cable. Chubu Electric Power completed both analysis inspections of insulating oil and visual inspections (i.e. inspecting cables, oil volume/pressure) for all equipment. Both cable types had been confirmed to be free of anomalies.

Chubu Electric Power will continue to reliably inspect and maintain its transmission equipment, and in turn work to stably supply power to customers.
