Registration of gas retail operations

Chubu Electric Power is proud to announce that today, in accordance with the Revised Gas Business Act, the company was registered for gas retail operations by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry.

Chubu Electric Power will accordingly venture into the newly deregulating gas sales business for households next April.

As a first step, the company will roll out gas sales operations for city gas users in the Toho Gas service area.

In addition to fully preparing a security system to enable customers to safely use gas, Chubu Electric Power will arrange a low-cost, readily understandable gas rate menu in an effort to start accepting supply applications from January 2017.

Chubu Electric Power started selling gas to large factories in 2001, and has since been boosting and expanding gas-related operations in a phased manner.

With its foray into the newly deregulating market of gas retail for household customers, Chubu Electric Power will expand both gas and electricity sales, thereby striving to become a leading total energy service corporation.
