Transportation (Return) of Low-Level Radioactive Waste

Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. plans to ground-deliver (return) low-level radioactive waste (canisters) from which coating had separated. The waste will be transported to Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station (NPS) from the Company's private quay at the Port of Omaezaki. This announcement is related to "Changes in Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station's FY2018 Schedule for Transportation of New Fuel (Second Change)," previously issued on June 07, 2018.

Transport packaging: One (includes two canisters) (material solidified with fillers)

3. Section of transportation

From Hamaoka NPS to Chubu Electric Power's private quay at the Port of Omaezaki

4. Method of transportation

A single transport packaging will be loaded onto a single truck at the private quay and be transported by land to Hamaoka NPS with two escort vehicles.
Chubu Electric Power plans to carry the packaging out from Japan Nuclear Fuel Limited's Low-Level Radioactive Waste Disposal Center on Monday, July 02, 2018, and to transport the packaging to the private quay by both a vessel used specifically for the transport of low-level radioactive waste (the Seiei-Maru) and a truck.

5. Other

After the drums in the transport packaging are carried into Hamaoka NPS, detailed investigations will start as soon as Chubu Electric Power completes preparations. Investigation results will be announced when compiled.
