Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station's FY2019 Schedule for Transportation of New Fuel

Chubu Electric Power is planning to transport new fuel, spent fuel, and low-level radioactive waste in FY2019 as provided below.

The following is the transportation schedule as of today, and is subject to future change.

We will be returning drums with swelling paint film as reported in "Peeling Paint on Low Level Radioactive Waste (drums) (update)" on March 13, 2019. Details are as follows.

(1) Transfer date

April 16, 2019 (Tues.)

(2) Number of containers

One transfer container (with two drums inside) (solidified waste)

(3) Transfer zone

From the Chubu Electric dedicated quay at Omaezaki Port to the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station

(4) Transport method 

The container will be loaded onto a truck at the Chubu Electric dedicated quay at Omaezaki Port. The container will then be driven to the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station, escorted by two other vehicles.
Prior to arriving at Omaezaki Port, the container will first have been shipped out of Japan Nuclear Fuel Limited's Low-Level Radioactive Waste Disposal Center on April 13, 2019 (Sat.) and will arrive at the Chubu Electric dedicated quay at Omaezaki Port by truck and low-level radioactive waste transport vessel (Seieimaru).

(5) Others 

We will begin detailed investigations as soon as possible after the drum arrives at the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station. We will be publishing the results as reports are compiled.
