Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc.
We at Chubu Electric Power, jointly with Hitachi Air Conditioning Systems Co., Ltd., have developed a fully automatic, powerful electric water heater with the thinnest body in the industry.
We have received many requests from customers in urban areas for water heaters that can be installed between the outside of their house and the edge of their property - a space sometimes as narrow as 50cm - as well as for heaters that provide greater water pressure for showers on high floors.
To meet such demands, we began developing a new type of hot-water supply system to replace the round tank used in conventional water heaters with a thin rectangular tank, thereby reducing the width of the body. In addition, a special pump for increasing the pressure of the hot water to be fed was developed.
The result is a powerful, thin hot-water supply system, with a width of 39.5 cm, the thinnest in the industry. Its water feed is so powerful that a resident on the third floor can shower with normal water pressure. While bathtub filling and additional water heating remain as fast as with a conventional heater, the ease of installation, maintenance, and use have been greatly improved.
The new water heater will be placed on the market by Hitachi Air Conditioning Systems Co. in February of this year. We hope that this development will make bathing more comfortable for many users, and help increase the appeal of totally electrified housing.
