Today, Osaka Gas Co., Ltd. (President: Hirofumi Shibano) and Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. (President: Fumio Kawaguchi) have reached agreement on the laying of the natural-gas pipeline, as follows:
Overview
1. Name
Mie-Shiga Pipeline (tentative name)
2. Route
Between the Shiga Line of the Kinki Trunk Line of Osaka Gas (under construction) and the Yokkaichi Thermal Power Plant of Chubu Electric Power
3. Purpose
To establish a stable and efficient natural gas supply system for both companies
4. Benefits for each company
- (1) Osaka Gas
Osaka Gas can improve the supply stability and supply capacity of town gas, by connecting this pipeline and Taga Governor Station, which is to be installed at the northern end of the Shiga Line (the line between Kusatsu City and Taga Town in Shiga Prefecture-under construction and due for completion in 2007).
- (2) Chubu Electric Power
This pipeline will enable Chubu Electric Power to obtain a backup supply of natural gas from Osaka Gas. As a result, Chubu Electric Power will be able to operate its generation facilities more flexibly and increase the reliability of power supply.
As public utility companies, Osaka Gas and Chubu Electric Power will continue in their efforts to meet the expectations of customers, shareholders, and local communities through the stable supply of energy, the maintenance of security, and improvements to services.
