Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc.

Based on inspection plans submitted to the Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency, we are performing thorough inspections of pipe wall thickness at our thermal power plants.

We have successfully completed all planned inspections and assessments of those units that have been in use for 20 years or more since the initiation of operation.

The outline of the inspection is given below.

Description

  1. 1. Results of the inspection and assessment of units that have been in use for 20 or more years We have completed the inspection and assessment of all nineteen units involved (excluding three units whose long-term plans have been suspended) at a total of 1,387 subject locations, and have verified that all locations are in good condition.
  2. 2. Results of the inspection and assessment of units that have been in use for less than 20 years Of the 1,903 subject locations in a total of 39 units involved, we have completed inspection and assessment of 1,130 locations in 28 units (progress rate: 59%).
  3. 3. Results of the repair of piping with a thickness less than the minimum required Repair is complete at the eight locations of five units. For the three remaining locations of one unit, repair is scheduled to be completed by the end of January.

In all inspections conducted since the previous announcements (November 1 and December 3, 2004), no piping with a thickness less than the minimum required was found.
