The first periodic inspection of reactor no. 5 at the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station (an advanced boiling water reactor with output rated at 1.38 million kilowatts) will begin January 16, 2006. This periodic inspection, including operational adjustments to the reactor, is planned to take approximately three months.
Plans call for inspection of the following facilities during the period of this inspection: the reactor itself, the reactor's cooling system, the reactor storage facilities, the steam turbine equipment, and other facilities.
This periodic inspection will not involve the loading of new fuel, but will involve transfer of fuel.
