Hamaoka Pluthermal Hotline opens
February 3, 2006
Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc.
Since announcing its pluthermal (i.e., nuclear power-plant use of plutonium uranium mixed-oxide, or MOX, fuel) plans in September 2005, Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. has implemented various activities, including canvassing for discussions, local explanatory meetings, and town hall meetings, focusing on the local cities of Omaezaki, Makinohara, Kakegawa, and Kikukawa ("the four local cities"). These activities are intended to ensure the understanding of the pluthermal plans within local communities.
As an additional step, for a period of one month, the Company will open a toll-free Hamaoka Pluthermal Hotline to allow those belonging to the four local cities to voice their comments and concerns.
Chubu Electric Power also plans to distribute leaflets to the residents of the four cities. The leaflets will inform residents of the toll-free number and discuss the pluthermal plans.
