On February 3, Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. received written instructions (attached) from the Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency concerning hafnium control rods. The Company will implement these instructions as soon as the relevant preparations are complete.
At the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station, nine control rods have been inserted in reactor no. 3 (where a total of 13 hafnium control rods are present) and 21 control rods have been inserted in reactor no. 4 (where a total of 25 hafnium control rods are present).
For the time being, these measures are expected to reduce output at reactor no. 4 by approximately 400,000 kilowatts.
