Unusual water discharge from Oigawa Dam regular water-flow release facilities

At approximately 5:30 p.m. today, the water release gate in the regular water-flow release facilities* at Chubu Electric Power's Oigawa Dam in Kawanehon-cho, Haibara-gun, Shizuoka Prefecture malfunctioned, causing a release of water from the dam.


* Regular water flow release facilities: facilities for supplying an adequate flow of water to enable proper use and functioning of the river


Upon discovery of this unusual water discharge, a water-level increase alarm was sounded and the river was patrolled. In addition, the water-release gate was closed manually, returning to its original position at 7:16 p.m.


As of 9:00 p.m. today, no water-related accidents or other incidents resulting from this unusual discharge of water have been confirmed.


We apologize for any concern this incident may have caused to any related parties, including persons in the area downstream from the dam.
