Operation of reactor no. 5 at the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station restarts

Reactor no. 5 at the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station (an advanced boiling water reactor with output rated at 1.38 million kilowatts) was started up and began adjustment operations at 1:00 p.m. on March 15, 2006.

Power generation at the reactor restarted at 5:22 p.m. on March 18, 2006.
Adjustment operations as well as inspection and testing will continue. Following completion of this inspection and testing, a final total load-performance inspection will be conducted by the Japanese government, as the final inspection. Commercial operation is planned to begin following this final inspection.
