Start of "Nagoya Emergency Information Service" for Citizens
March 27, 2006
Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc.
Chubu Electric and the city of Nagoya will start the "Nagoya Emergency Information Service" on April 1.
This is part of Chubu Electric's Pocket-chu "Kurashi Anshin" suite of lifestyle and local information services for cell phone users. The Nagoya Emergency Information Service will send disaster-related information from the city of Nagoya, including evacuation advisories and evacuation advisory preparation information, to users on their cell phones.
While similar information is already distributed by wireless broadcasting, TV and radio as well as newspapers and public address vehicles, the new capacity for email distribution will get that information to area citizens more quickly and reliably.
This service will additionally reassure citizens by giving them practical information for staying safe and preventing disasters.
