Development of Low-cost, Multi-function Demand Management System
-A simple way of saving energy using a wireless load curve measuring instrument and monitoring & control software -

Together with Hioki E. E. Corporation we have jointly developed a low-cost, multi-function demand management system that combines a wireless load curve* measuring instrument with monitoring & control software.

* A load curve is a continuous curve showing customers' electric power demand over time, showing changes from hour to hour and season to season.

The contract demand is the highest demand among the actual maximum demand in every month over the past year including the contract month. As the basic charge is calculated from the contract demand, management of maximum electric power demand may help reduce electricity charges.

Existing demand management systems automatically stop electric devices when the maximum demand is poised to exceed the contract demand. This new system, in addition to demand management, provides a wide variety of functions via the monitoring & control software. The cost of the new system is about half that of conventional systems. Also, the system uses a wireless measuring instrument, enabling easy installation.

Using this newly developed system, the peak demand in summer, when the largest amount of electricity is consumed, will be reduced, helping customers save energy and save on electricity bills.

This new system is to be released in July 2005 by Hioki E. E. Corporation.
