Issuance of the 2005 Edition Annual Environmental Report
"Think of the Earth, Think Energy, Think Conservation"

On June 9, 2005, we issued the 2005 Edition Annual Environmental Report, which describes our environmental conservation activities and achievements in fiscal 2004 as well as our goals for the future.
We have issued this annual environmental report every year since 1994, and the 2005 edition is the 12th report.
We issued the report at the beginning of June, as we did last year. June is our "Earth month," and we plan to make the most of the report.

The 2005 Edition Annual Environmental Report contains the following features:

* Sending a message to children

We think that the current generation of adults should ensure that all the members of society recognize themselves as global citizens and work together to build a society capable of sustainable development, in order to pass on our precious Earth in good condition to children, the next generation. We redesigned the cover of the annual environmental report to emphasize this message.
We plan to communicate this message to children through the 2005 Children's World Summit for the Environment and the Eco Talk Session, which shall be held in connection with the 2005 World Exposition in Aichi.

* Conducting a self-evaluation of the "Action Plan"

The "Action Plan" specifies the target dates of our actions for environmental conservation. With the aim of further strengthening the PDCA of our environmental management system, we more clearly evaluated the achievements of the "Action Plan" in FY 2004 on a scale of one
