Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc.

In partnership with Denso Facilities Corporation, Ishibashi Consulting Engineer Office, and Chuo Seisakusho, Ltd., we have developed a Low-Voltage Power Flow Controller that will enable our high-voltage power service customers to reduce their electrical equipment costs. This new product will be commercially available from Denso Facilities from October.

Using power electronics technology, this controller maintains the transformer load current at a desired level by adjusting the overall load current among several transformers that are interconnected on their lower-voltage sides.

* "Power electronics" technology relates to components that control large amounts of electric power, with fields of application from heavy electrical machinery to transportation and factory control.

When expanding or changing production lines, it often becomes necessary to replace or renovate electrical equipment such as transformers and low-voltage wires. This controller allows you to make efficient use of existing transformers, eliminating the need to replace or renovate such equipment. When installing a new transformer, the conventional approach would call for selection of a higher capacity than necessary, to provide for overloads. This controller, on the other hand, allows you to control transformer capacity by adjusting the load current among the transformers, leading to reduced equipment costs. Further, this controller ensures ideal operating ratios during normal transformer operation-reducing not only power losses but also lowering associated operation costs and CO2 emissions.

We will propose this product as an option to customers. Further, we are developing additional functions to meet various customer needs, and are also working on the development of a high-voltage power flow controller.
