Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc.

The volume of electricity sales rose 1.0% from the previous year to 64,733,000,000 kWh-a record high for half-year electricity sales.

1. Demand for electricity other than extra high-voltage power services (i.e., general residential consumption): down 0.3% from the previous year

Factors such as declining contract numbers and lower use of low-voltage power for air-conditioning equipment due to lower temperatures led to a 4.8% drop from the previous year.

2. Demand for extra high-voltage power services: Increased by 1.5% from the previous year

(1) Commercial use (clients including office buildings, department stores, and hotels)

Although use of air-conditioning equipment declined due to cooler weather, heightened activity at commercial facilities and other clients led to growth of 2.5% from the previous year.

Factors including booming business for industries such as steelmaking and machinery led to growth of 1.2% from the previous year.
