Sales structure enhanced and service area expanded for E-Life Advisory Center - a customer advisory center for full electrification of the home

Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc.

Beginning today, December 1, 2005, Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. will enhance the sales structure for its E-Life Advisory Center - a customer advisory center where staff members with specialized expertise in full home electrification provide customer consultation services by telephone - by increasing the number of the Center's personnel, and will expand the Center's service area.

The cumulative total number of fully electrified homes in Chubu Electric Power's service area (covering the five prefectures of central Japan: Aichi, parts of Gifu, parts of Mie, Nagano, and Shizuoka prefecture west of the Fujikawa River) has surpassed 225,000, reaching the level of approximately 25% of homes under construction (as of October 31, 2005).

In the future, through efforts such as enhancing the sales structure for its E-Life Advisory Center, Chubu Electric Power aims to increase the cumulative total number of fully electrified homes in its service area to more than 300,000, or 35% of homes under construction.

In December of last year, in an effort to seek further expansion of full electrification, Chubu Electric Power opened an E-Life Advisory Center to serve customers in the service area of its Nagoya Branch (western Aichi prefecture).

The E-Life Advisory Center accepts queries from customers by toll-free telephone and via the Internet, providing advice concerning full electrification and matters related to home electricity use. Its specialized advisors provide customers with easily understandable explanations regarding such matters.

In addition, E-Life staff members visit customers directly for consultation purposes and to provide a full range of services - from examination of electric appliances to providing introductions and acting as a liaison between construction companies and retailers - on a one-stop basis.

This enhancement will expand the ranks of E-Life staff from the current total of 18 personnel - two each at the eight offices of the Nagoya Branch - to a total of 60 personnel serving the entire service area - two each at 30 offices in the Chubu Electric Power service area (the five prefectures of central Japan).

Currently, full electrification of home energy use using products such as kitchen Cooking Heaters and EcoCute baths has been well received by customers, with full-electrification figures growing steadily, as shown in the attachment.

Although the E-Life Advisory Center is already receiving a number of inquiries from customers every day, this enhancement of the sales structure promises to enable it to more strongly promote sales of full-electrification services.
