Theft of electricity charge payment vouchers

Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. has been notified by UFJ Bank, to which it subcontracts receipt of electricity charge payments, that one of the bank's delivery vehicles was the target of theft in the parking lot of its Sofue Branch (in the city of Inazawa, Aichi prefecture) on December 2, with a bag containing documents and other materials stolen. It has also been notified that the stolen documents included three Chubu Electric Power electricity charge payment vouchers (the forms used to remit payment of electricity charges at financial institutions).


The stolen electricity charge payment vouchers were planned for transport to the bank's headquarters for reconciliation purposes after being used to make payment of customers' electricity charges at the Sofue Branch on December 2. They included customers' names and reference numbers and the amounts of their electricity charges.


They did not include customer account information, addresses, or telephone numbers.


Chubu Electric Power offers its heartfelt apologies for the loss of this vital customer information.


It will continue to endeavor to implement strict and appropriate management of customer information.
