Kizuna Net (school parents' network) service

December 8, 2005
Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc.

Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. has now begun to offer its new "Kizuna Net" service, which enables schools (including preschools, kindergartens, elementary schools, and junior high schools) to send messages easily to the cellular phones of students' parents.

This service allows schools to send emergency messages to parents more rapidly and in more accurate detail, from notice of early school closings due to storm alerts to information on suspicious individuals in the area.

Features of "Kizuna Net"

  • • Since this service uses the existing system server that we manage, it costs users (schools) only 15,750 yen per month.
  • • All that is required to implement this service is a PC with Internet access.
  • • The high-security server properly manages and protects personal information.
  • • This service makes it possible to send emergency messages to specific groups, such as an entire grade or an entire class.
  • • This service allows schools to set up a cellular phone website and to post notices, event schedules, and the like.

Recently, a growing number of children have become victims of various crimes. As a result, the dissemination of information on suspicious people in the area and similar concerns is indispensable in securing the safety of children.

An increase in the number of families with two working parents and the growing diversification of lifestyles make it difficult to convey messages quickly and accurately using conventional telephone trees. Moreover, a growing awareness of privacy issues and the enactment of the Personal Information Protection Law has in some cases led to the abolition of call lists.

Under theses circumstances, we believe that our Kizuna Net will help ensure the safety of children and provide support to families with two working parents by allowing messages to be dispatched more quickly and in more accurate detail, while at the same time protecting personal information and privacy.
