Apologies for the theft of customer Information

We hereby report an incident involving the theft of certain documents containing customer information. The incident occurred on December 12 when an employee of People Staff Co., Ltd. (Head office: Naka-ku, Nagoya-shi), which is commissioned to conduct sales activities for our Commuf@ fiber-optic Internet service, discovered that his car had been broken into.


We wish to express our sincere apologies for the loss of this important customer information.


We have paid visits to the customers involved to apologize for and to explain the circumstances of this incident.


We intend to raise our contractors' awareness of the importance of properly managing personal information, in order to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.

Between 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 11, and 7:00 a.m. on Monday, December 12, 2005

In Minami-Honjigahara-cho, Owariasahi-shi (in the parking lot near the home of the contractor's employee)

Standard-sized car (private car)

Bag containing eleven applications (copies) for Commuf@

Data on eleven customers
(1) Address, (2) Name, (3) Phone number, (4) Birth date, (5) e-mail address, (6) Occupation


6. Circumstances under which the theft occurred


  1. (1) At approximately 6:00 p.m. on December 11, the contractor's employee completed a field investigation and went home, parking his car in the parking lot near his house.
  2. (2) Sometime near 7:00 a.m. on December 12, the employee arrived at the parking lot to go to work and found the window on the driver's side broken. He discovered that a bag with documents containing customer information, which he had left in his car, had been stolen.
  3. (3) Though the employee immediately searched the neighborhood for the documents, he was unable to find them. He then reported the theft to the police (Moriyama Police Station).

7. Future measures


  1. (1) We will raise our contractors' awareness of the importance of protecting personal information and instruct them to manage such information more strictly and properly.
  2. (2) We will extend our full cooperation to the investigation conducted by the authorities.
