New winter record set for single-day power consumption (third time this winter)

Customers used 478,840,000 kWh of electricity yesterday (0:00 to 24:00, December 22), setting a new record for power consumed over a single day. The previous record was set on December 20, 2005.

We believe this record consumption is attributable to the influx of an unusually cold winter air mass, leading to low temperatures and high-capacity operation of numerous heating systems.
