Change of Oversight of Tokuyama Power Station Plan
March 13, 2007
Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc.
Electric Power Development Co., Ltd. (J-Power) (Head Office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Yoshihiko Nakagaki) and Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. (below, Chubu Electric) (Head Office: Higashi-ku, Nagoya; President: Toshio Mita) agreed today that oversight of J-Power's Tokuyama Power Station plan will transfer to Chubu Electric upon completion of the Tokuyama Dam (expected in March 2008).
The Tokuyama Power Station plan was incorporated into the Electric Power Development Basic Plan at the 90th Electric Power Development Coordinating Meeting in December 1982. J-Power has been developing the site since then with the support of Chubu Electric.
During this time, the electricity business environment has shifted, leading J-Power and Chubu Electric to reconsider how to proceed with the Tokuyama Power Station plan.
The result is that the two companies recognize the need for greater economy of operations in the Tokuyama Power Station plan by seeking out a higher level of efficiency in all stages from construction to operations and maintenance. Consequently, they have agreed to shift oversight of the power station plan from J-Power to Chubu Electric.
In spite of the change of oversight, the power station plan itself will remain unchanged. Development will continue with the aim of starting operations as planned in FY2014. Procedures associated with the change of plan oversight will be coordinated with all parties concerned. Until the change of oversight comes into effect, J-Power will continue to take responsibility for advancing the Tokuyama Power Station plan.
J-Power and Chubu Electric would like to take this opportunity to thank local residents and all concerned for their cooperation in this plan and ask for their continued cooperation in the future.

Overview of Tokuyama Power Station Plan
Under the Tokuyama Power Station plan, the Japan Water Agency will participate in generating power at the Tokuyama Dam under construction at Ibigawa-cho, Ibi-gun, Gifu Prefecture (the local town name was previously known as Fujihashi-mura). A power station located immediately downstream from the dam will have a planned maximum output of 153 MW (130 MW in Unit 1, 23 MW in Unit 2, maximum water usage of 100.4m3/s). Operation is to begin in 2014.
The Japan Water Agency began experimentally filling the reservoir behind the Tokuyama Dam in September 2006, a process which it plans to complete in March 2008.
