Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. concluded a liquefied natural gas (LNG) trade contract with Malaysia LNG Sdn. Bhd. today.
This is Chubu Electric's first long term trade contract with a Malaysian LNG project. Under the agreement, Chubu Electric will purchase up to 540,000 tons of LNG per year for 20 years starting in 2011. The LNG will come from Malaysia LNG's complex in Bintulu, Sarawak (total production capacity 22.7 million tons per year).
