Construction at Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station No. 3 to improve earthquake tolerance

Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station is voluntarily doing construction on each power station unit to improve the station's earthquake tolerance. The station is currently being evaluated to withstand tremors (horizontal seismic tremors of approximately 1000 gal at bedrock) in the target area to enhance the station's capacity to handle earthquakes.

Together with earthquake tolerance evaluations at station No. 3 and other construction previously started, the following construction is currently underway.
The 14th scheduled maintenance planned to start on July 21 will include pipe support renovations, electrical circuit support renovations, and heat-exchanger support renovations for excess heat removal systems.
All construction is scheduled for completion in the second half of FY 2007.
