Development and Sale of Commercial-Use IH Rice Cooker "Suihan Meister"

Satake Corporation, Tokyo Electric Power Company, Inc., Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. and the Chugoku Electric Power Co., Inc. have jointly developed a commercial-use IH rice cooker, "Suihan Meister" (Note 1) for customers who must cook rice in high volumes, such as schools, hospitals and meal delivery services.

Satake Corporation will begin sales in September of this year.

The newly developed "Suihan Meister" has cylindrical kettles and is designed to perform IH heating of both the bottom and side of the kettles. The two inverters (Note 2), offering outstanding control, achieve pattern-control heating, creating a strong convection in the kettles that results in uniformly delicious rice.

In addition, two kettles work as a single unit to share the side IH heating inverter, thus reducing costs.

Cleanliness is a big part of the design: the surface of the rice cooker has as few projections as possible, and space has been kept free below the rice cooker for easy cleanup.

Satake Corporation plans to recommend the Suihan Meister to customers looking to purchase or replace commercial-use rice cookers, and will offer advice on rice cooking and will meet customer needs of all types.

The three electric power companies will continue actively developing high-efficiency, affordable appliances and helping customers cut energy costs.

The new product will be on display at "Energy Solution & Thermal Storage Fair '06" in Tokyo starting July 26(Note 3).

(Note 1) "Suihan Meister"
The name of the commercial-use IH rice cooker recently developed. Satake Corporation is currently taking procedures to register the trademark.

(Note 2) "Inverter"
An IH rice cooker works by sending an electric current through a coil and using the resulting magnetic force to heat the kettle. The inverter is the device used to send the current through the coil.
