Basic Agreement Reached on Western Australia LNG Purchasing Contract

Chubu Electric today concluded a statement of mutual agreement for a contract to purchase liquefied natural gas (LNG) from six sellers, as described below.

Currently, Chubu Electric purchases approximately 1.05 million tons of LNG from projects in Western Australia annually. The new agreement extends beyond FY2009 the period of an agreement expiring in FY2008. We have previously concluded contracts to purchase 600,000 tons per year of LNG from sellers in Western Australia for the period beginning in FY2009.

With the new contract, the amount of LNG we will purchase from Western Australian projects will total more than one million tons per year starting in FY2009.

This extension of the long-standing contract between Western Australia projects and Chubu Electric will ensure stable procurement of LNG for Chubu Electric.
