Construction to Improve Seismic Safety Margin at Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station, Reactor No. 5
November 21, 2006
Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc.
Chubu Electric is making voluntary modifications to improve Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station's seismic safety margin, and as part of this effort has assessed the seismic safety margin at a target ground motion (horizontal ground motion of about 1,000 gal at bedrock) and will conduct improvement projects as preparations for each project are completed.
This press release is to announce that we have determined to perform the following projects at Reactor No. 5, including work that has already begun (part of which is finished).
Of these, work will begin November 22 to modify supports for piping and electric circuits.
Other work will be performed as preparations are complete.
All work will be complete in the second half of FY2007.
