Chubu Electric to Purchase CO2 Emissions Credits from CDM Projects

Chubu Electric has opted to purchase new CO2 emissions credits from CDM projects based on the Kyoto Mechanisms in the People's Republic of China and Republic of Korea (South Korea).
Chubu Electric will continue the fight against global warming by working with CO2 reduction projects and taking other measures.
1. Project to recover and decompose N2O from nitric acid production plant in Henan Province, People's Republic of China
Chubu Electric has agreed to purchase CO2 emissions credits from a project to recover and decompose N2O (nitrous oxide, a greenhouse gas with 310 times the global warming potential of CO2) emitted from a nitric acid production plant belonging to Kai Feng Jinkai chemical Industry Co., Ltd. of Henan Province, People's Republic of China.

2. Project to recover and decompose N2O from nitric acid production plant in Ulsan City, Republic of Korea (South Korea)
Chubu Electric has agreed to purchase CO2 emissions credits from a project to recover and decompose N2O (nitrous oxide, a greenhouse gas with 310 times the global warming potential of CO2) emitted from a nitric acid production plant belonging to Hanwha Corporation of Ulsan City, Republic of Korea.
With this agreement, Chubu Electric will be purchasing CO2 emissions credits from the Republic of Korea for the first time.

3. Wind energy project in Hebei Province, People's Republic of China
Chubu Electric has agreed to purchase CO2 emissions credits from a wind energy project by Hebei Construction Investment Zhangjiakou Wind Energy Co., Ltd. of Hebei Province, People's Republic of China.
