Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc.
On May 21, Chubu Electric submitted a report to the Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency (Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry) giving results of inspections of our nuclear, thermal and hydroelectric power generating facilities and a summary of a specific action plan with measures to prevent recurrence of certain inappropriate conduct discovered during inspection.
This is to report that today we submitted a notice of changes to our safety regulations as described below to the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry. These changes are our response to the minister's order to revise safety standards (dated May 7) and are part of our measures to prevent recurrence.
To ensure that our chief engineers have enough responsibility and authority to perform their duties, we have added to our documentation the fact that professionals are assigned as chief engineers.
We have added to the documentation that the content of all safety-related records shall be properly recorded and appropriately managed.
We have added to our documentation that we will give concrete form to training regulations and establish a program to give training in a planned way.
We have noted that, concerning the installation or alteration of electrical works, we will establish checking procedures when submitting applications and reporting on construction plans as based on the Electric Utility Law.
We have stated that, where records should be made and kept of safety initiatives, we will establish procedures to take appropriate records and manage them properly.
