New Company to be Established to Provide Heat to Quality Life 21 Johoku District

Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc.

Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. (President & CEO: Toshio Mita; head office: Higashi-ku, Nagoya) and Toho Gas Co., Ltd. (President: Kotaro Mizuno; head office: Atsuta-ku, Nagoya) will establish a company to provide Quality Life 21 Johoku District(*1) with heat(*2, *3).


*1 Part of a pioneering project aiming to realize the goal of a "city of public welfare and safety" as envisioned in Nagoya New Century Plan 2010. The district, in Hirate-cho, Kita-ku, Nagoya adjacent to Shiga Park, is intended to be an area with comprehensive health, medical and public welfare services, to be completed by 2010.

*2 The service will provide cool water and steam (hot water) through pipes from an energy plant to multiple buildings.

*3 The city of Nagoya has already notified the two companies that they have been selected to provide the service.

Heat supply services as based on the Heat Supply Business Law, the supply of electric power generated incidental to heat supply and other incidental services

October 1, 2007 (planned)

Heat supply services will begin at the start of preparations to open Seibu Medical Center Central Hospital (tentative name) (planned for FY2010)


2. Heat supply equipment overview

Systems will be used seeking maximum economy, environmental friendliness and supply stability, including high efficiency centrifugal chillers and thermal storage water tanks, natural gas cogeneration systems, gas-fired absorption chiller/heaters, steam boilers, etc.
