C Energy Becomes First On-Site Business Affiliated with an Electric Power Company to Achieve 200,000 kW of Decentralized Power under Contract

Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc.
C ENERGY CO., INC.
As of the end of August 2007, Chubu Electric subsidiary C Energy has become the first on-site business affiliated with an electric power company to achieve 200,000 kW of decentralized power under contract (including 96,000 kW of diesel, 99,000 kW of gas cogeneration and 6,000 kW of new energy sources). The amount of power generated is equivalent to the contracted power for 66,000 ordinary households (the number of households in Meito-ku, Nagoya).
Founded in 2001, C Energy was originally focused on diesel power monogeneration for commercial electricity customers, but as the cost of crude oil has risen, C Energy has shifted its core business to gas cogeneration for industrial electricity customers with high heat demand.
Presently, it provides a one-stop service that designs, builds, maintains and manages energy equipment in general in customer factories, office buildings and so on, including transforming equipment, heating and cooling equipment and most especially decentralized power equipment (mainly gas cogeneration). As a comprehensive energy services company, it also offers ideas for saving energy and reducing CO2 emissions.
Despite the difficult business environment in which C Energy operates (characterized by high crude oil and gas costs), the company's business performance has been steadily rising as a result of responding precisely to customer needs that have emerged along with the awareness of the environment and the need to prepare for power outages.
The Chubu Electric Group is working to meet its goal of combined sales of 45 billion yen in FY2010 in three business areas: C Energy's business domain, gas sales through pipe systems and LNG sales by truck delivery.
As an important part of the Chubu Electric Group and its vision of being a general energy services group, C Energy will continue to promote decentralized power and actively expand into the government ESCO business and independent on-site heat and cold sources business(*) while aiming for FY2010 sales of 10 billion yen.
