Conclusion of collaboration agreement between Kosai City and Chubu Electric Power for sustainable community initiatives ~Aiming for installation of smart water meters throughout the city as a first in Japan~

Today, Kosai City and Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. (“Chubu Electric Power”) concluded an “Agreement on the Collaboration for Sustainable Community Initiatives” to collaborate and cooperate in solving local issues toward realizing a sustainable “new form of community” with development of new technologies and utilization of various data.

With the conclusion of the collaboration agreement, we will work to “install smart water meters throughout the city” as a first in Japan and “promote carbon neutrality”.

• Background and purpose of the collaboration agreement

In recent years, we have entered an era of social change with the demand to promote DX and digitization and solve social issues of carbonation, in addition to various local issues and growing needs of the citizen due to declining population, aging society, and diversifying lifestyles of citizens.

In order to realize a sustainable “new form of community” that addresses issues and changes, Kosai City will collaborate and cooperate with Chubu Electric Power which has solution technologies including local energy infrastructure and energy-saving data services, thereby overcoming local issues and improving added values.

(1) Matters related to the automation of water meter readings

(2) Matters related to the improvement of water meter reading technology

(3) Matters related to the promotion of DX/digitization and data utilization

(4) Matters related to the promotion of carbon neutrality

(5) Other matters required to achieve the purpose
