Chubu Electric Power signs an agreement on a demonstration test on automatic water consumption meter reading and data usage utilizing Chubu Electric Power’s smart meter communications network in Nagoya City

Today, Nagoya City Waterworks & Sewerage Bureau (“Waterworks & Sewerage Bureau”), Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. (“Chubu Electric Power”) and RYOMO SYSTEMS CO., LTD. (“RYOMO SYSTEMS”) concluded an agreement on a demonstration test (“the Demonstration Test”).

The Waterworks & Sewerage Bureau and Chubu Electric Power have confirmed a high data acquisition rate in the trial introduction of automatic water meter reading at housing complexes using Chubu Electric Power’s smart meter communications network, announced on May 6, 2021.

Unlike the preceding trial introduction of a communications method using Chubu Electric Power’s smart meter communications network, the Demonstration Test will expand the scope to detached houses to verify stability of automatic meter reading. RYOMO SYSTEMS will also participate in the series of processes from acquisition of water consumption meter reading to provision of various services, to verify new added-value services such as early detection and notification of water leaks and faucets forgotten to be closed.

Through the Demonstration Test, the Waterworks & Sewerage Bureau will investigate and research the possibility of systemizing efficient and effective automatic meter reading and providing new services utilizing water consumption data, and Chubu Electric Power and RYOMO SYSTEMS will aim to create new values through the development and verification of services that utilize water consumption data using Chubu’s smart meter communications network.

Overview of the Demonstration Test

Test location: Approx. 90 units of housing complexes and detached houses in Naka Ward

Test period: October 2023 – March 2026 (scheduled)
