Chubu Electric Power Co.,Inc.

Today, Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. ("Chubu Electric Power") is pleased to announce that we have acquired a 50% stake in Tsuruga Green Power Co., Ltd. ("Tsuruga Green Power"), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Marubeni Clean Power Corporation (Head Office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Seishi Narita; "Marubeni Clean Power"), which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Marubeni Corporation (Head Office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Masumi Kakinoki; "Marubeni").

Tsuruga Green Power operates the Tsuruga Green Power Plant ("power plant"), a 37-MW wood-fired biomass power plant in Tsuruga city, Fukui Prefecture.

Chubu Electric Power and Marubeni have been jointly developing the Godo Biomass Power Plant (announced on September 25, 2020) and both companies' participation in this power generation project will create synergies in terms of fuel flexibility and other operating aspects between the two plants.

In our aim to improve energy self-sufficiency and achieve a low-carbon society, the Chubu Electric Power Group regards renewables as a major energy source and we will continue to pursue the development of renewable energies to achieve our goal of reaching a minimum of 2,000 MW from renewables by around the year 2030.
