January 31, 2020
Chubu Electric Power Co.,Inc.

Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. ("Chubu Electric Power") and Medical Data Card, Inc. (President & CEO Kunihiro Nishimura; Head Office: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; "Medical Data Card") agreed to form a business alliance to develop healthcare data platform services. Chubu Electric Power also underwrote the third-party allocation of shares issued by Medical Data Card and acquired shares in the company in October 2019.

Medical Data Card is a startup venture that has launched cloud services in which hospitals transmit, with the patient's consent, blood test, prescription and other data via a smart phone application, enabling patients to consolidate and manage their medical and health information. Medical Data Card has expanded its services in cooperation with many hospitals and other healthcare institutions. This business alliance will link the medical and healthcare information services that Medical Data Card offers with Chubu Electric Power's data platform.

This investment is financed by Chubu Electric Power Community Support Fund, an internal corporate venture capital fund established in April 2019 to swiftly invest in startups with advanced technology or revolutionary business models as well as other venture capital funds.

Chubu Electric Power and Medical Data Card will strive to construct a platform allowing interactive communication between physicians and patients so that they have peace of mind as they receive medical services within their communities, and both companies will work to develop and launch services as solutions to social issues, such as aging of the population, decline in the birthrate, and decline of rural areas.
