June 2025 Regular Press Conference : President Hayashi's Message
June 26, 2025
Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc.
I will be discussing the following matters today:
- The 101th Annual Shareholders Meeting
- Electricity Supply and Demand of this Summer
The 101th Annual Shareholders Meeting
- First, I would like to discuss the 101th Annual Shareholders Meeting.
- First of all, I am pleased to report that the Annual Shareholders Meeting has been successfully concluded.
- There were 266 shareholders in attendance at this year's General Meeting of Shareholders, 55 fewer than last year.
- The duration of this year's General Meeting was 2 hours and 9 minutes, 6 minutes shorter than last year.
- In addition to Chubu Electric Power's report on its business status for fiscal year 2024, a total of 13 proposals were discussed, including six by the company and seven by shareholders. The company's six proposals were approved.
- We received questions and valuable opinions from our shareholders regarding important management issues, such as about the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station, energy mix, and biomass power generation, and we responded to them in detail.
- Also, eight directors who are not members of the Audit and Supervisory Committee and one director who is a member of the Audit and Supervisory Committee were appointed.
- Of these, two new directors and one new director who is a member of the Audit and Supervisory Committee are introduced below.
- The new director is Mr. Toshihiro Hayami.
- Mr. Hayami has served as General Manager of the Corporate Management Division and General Manager of the Mie Regional Office of Chubu Electric Power Grid. He was appointed Senior Managing Executive Officer in April of this year and was elected as a director at this General Meeting.
- Mr. Haruhiko Kato has been appointed as a new outside director. He has extensive experience and broad knowledge, having served as Commissioner of the National Tax Agency, worked for many years at the Ministry of Finance, and held executive positions at several companies.
- Next, the new director and member of the Audit and Supervisory Committee is Mr. Toshihiko Oka.
- Mr. Oka has previously served as General Manager of the Kaizen Promotion Office and as Special Corporate Auditor, and was elected as the new director and member of the Audit and Supervisory Committee at this General Meeting.
- Under the new management structure, the Group will continue to work to secure stable profits in the domestic energy business, and achieve sustainable growth through further expansion of new growth areas and global business, aiming to achieve Management Vision 2.0.
- In addition, we will strive to provide services that meet customer expectations and shareholder returns based on profit growth, as well as increase corporate value by improving capital efficiency and enhancing information disclosure, thereby contributing to the development of a sustainable society together with all of our stakeholders.
Electricity Supply and Demand of this Summer
- Lastly, I would like to talk about the electricity power supply and demand this summer.
- At a national council meeting held on May 23, the outlook for electricity supply and demand this summer was presented.
- Although temperatures are expected to be higher than average this summer, the supply and demand balance in the Chubu area is expected to remain stable, even in August when the reserve margin is projected to be at its lowest, at 7.6%. This ensures a reserve margin of at least 3%, which is the minimum required for stable supply.
- To ensure a stable supply in the Chubu area, the Group will take all possible measures to operate and maintain power station, transmission and substation facilities, frequency conversion stations, and other facilities to prevent any reduction in supply capacity due to equipment malfunction.
- We ask that our customers continue to use air conditioning and other cooling measures during hot periods, while continuing to use energy efficiently within reasonable limits.
- In addition, our website provides information on how to save energy for each type of home appliance, so please refer to it for guidance.
- This ends my presentation.
