First, I would like to express my heartfelt sympathy to all those affected by the recent Typhoon No. 15.
Due to the effects of tornadoes and other phenomena accompanying the typhoon's passage, power outages affected up to approximately 18,000 customers, primarily in Shizuoka Prefecture.
We sincerely apologize for the prolonged inconvenience and disruption caused to many customers.
As a group, we will continue to work in cooperation with the national government, local authorities, and others to respond promptly and strive for early restoration whenever disasters such as earthquakes or typhoons occur. We appreciate your continued understanding and support.

- Techno Fair 2025
I will be discussing the following matters today:
Electricity Supply and Demand of this Summer
- This summer saw record-breaking heat, with average temperatures in Nagoya during July and August exceeding last year's levels to reach all-time highs.
- In the Chubu area, peak power demand reached 24.63 million kW during the 2:00 PM hour on September 2nd, marking the highest single-point demand this summer.
- Furthermore, during the 2:30 PM hour on September 3rd, the Chubu area's reserve margin was projected to fall below 3% due to factors including lower-than-expected solar power generation output and reduced supply capacity from power source issues. Consequently, we received power transfers from other regions.
- As September draws to a close, we were able to deliver stable electricity supply throughout this summer by ensuring reliable operation and maintenance of generation facilities, by customers' efforts to use energy efficiently, and by receiving power transfers from other general transmission and distribution operators. This allowed us to maintain the minimum regional reserve margin of 3% required for stable supply.
- We would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to our residential and business customers in the Chubu area for cooperating with energy efficiency measures within reasonable limits.
- Our group will continue to ensure stable supply by rigorously implementing the operation and maintenance of power plants, transmission and transformation facilities, frequency conversion stations, and other equipment to prevent reductions in supply capacity due to equipment issues. We will also provide services that enable customers to use electricity efficiently.
Techno Fair 2025
- Next, I will discuss "Techno Fair 2025."
- Our Technology Development Division, whose predecessor, the General Technology Research Institute, was established in 1965, celebrated its 60th anniversary on June 1st of this year.
- It has undertaken research addressing the challenges of its time, including responding to surging electricity demand during Japan's high-growth era, tackling environmental issues like pollution, and promoting efficient energy use.
- Currently, to achieve our Management Vision 2.0, we are advancing R&D in seven key areas: leveraging DX, expanding renewable energy, and providing value through our Energy Platform.
- We host an annual Techno Fair to showcase the Group's technological development initiatives.
- This year's event, themed "Seeds of Innovation: Blooming Co-creation for a Fruitful Future," will be held over two days, October 30th and 31st, at our Technology Development Headquarters in Midori Ward, Nagoya City.
- Today, we highlight one notable research project.
- With the further expansion of renewable energy adoption and the proliferation of electric vehicles, various challenges are anticipated in the distribution systems connecting these sources.
- To address such challenges, we believe field testing in environments closely resembling actual distribution systems is essential.
- We have now completed the construction of a grid test facility using actual distribution equipment and its control system within the grounds of our Technical Development Headquarters. Today, we commenced operation of the Otaka Grid.
- The Otaka Grid enables various research activities, including the demonstration of new control methods for distribution systems and the verification of energy management utilizing storage batteries, solar power generation, and electric vehicle batteries.
- We position the Otaka Grid as a co-creation platform, intending it not only for our own use but also for broad utilization by industry and research institutions.
- At the Techno Fair, we will introduce the actual facilities of the Otaka Grid and its control system, the EMS (Energy Management System).
- We also plan to introduce the "Chubu Electric Power EMS" system, which utilizes this energy management expertise and can be implemented at our customers' facilities.
- We believe that working together with many companies, local governments, and educational/research institutions will yield significant benefits.
- We hope many of you will visit this year's Techno Fair and look forward to meeting co-creation partners who will join us in challenging the future of innovation.
