Conclusion of Basic Agreement on Introduction of Automated Gas Reading Service Utilizing Chubu Electric Power's Smart Electricity Meter Communications Network and Other Project Collaboration

SALA Energy Co., Ltd. (Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture; President & Director: Hiroshi Torii; "SALA Energy") and Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. (Higashi-ku, Nagoya City; President & Director: Kingo Hayashi; "Chubu Electric Power") reached an accord on cooperating to enhance both companies' corporate value and to enable SALA Energy to adopt an automated gas meter reading service that utilizes the smart meter communications network built by Chubu Electric Power, and today concluded a basic agreement ("the Agreement") outlining cooperation between the two companies.

SALA Energy has been using telephone lines to remotely acquire data on LP gas usage, gas leak alarms, other alerts, remaining gas volume, as well as to remotely disconnect and restore LP gas meters and provide other services. Based on this newly-concluded agreement, the company will start installing radio communication terminals on its LP gas meters in Aichi, Shizuoka, Gifu, and Mie prefectures in 2021 so that it may utilize Chubu Electric Power's smart meter communications network.

Both companies will also proceed to develop value-added services that utilize and apply electricity and gas usage data as well as combine each other's knowledge, infrastructure, and assets as they work toward providing solutions to social issues in addition to a prosperous living environment for customers.
