Chubu Electric Power to convert Medical Data Card, provider of services for centrally managing medical and health information, into consolidated subsidiary

Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. (“Chubu Electric Power”) held discussions with Medical Data Card, Inc. (Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO Kunihiro Nishimura; “Medical Data Card”), with which Chubu Electric Power entered into a capital and business partnership in October 2019, to convert the company into a consolidated subsidiary in accordance with the basic agreement on share acquisition and consolidated subsidiary conversion, which was signed on July 13, 2020. (Announced July 31, 2020)

Today, Chubu Electric Power announces that it acquired a majority stake in Medical Data Card and completed conversion of the company into a consolidated subsidiary.

Medical Data Card is a venture business originating from a medical school. It has partnered with numerous hospitals and other medical institutions in offering the smartphone app “MeDaCa,” which allows patients to centrally manage their medical and health information including the results of medical tests.

With the conversion of Medical Data Card into a consolidated subsidiary, Chubu Electric Power will accelerate its group efforts to construct a platform enabling smooth communication between patients and medical institutions, while also developing and offering other services including online medical consultations.
