Ishikawa Shoji Co., Ltd. (Kawagoe-cho, Mie-gun, Mie; President Yoshihiro Horita; “Ishi-kawa Shoji”) and Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. (Higashi-ku, Nagoya; President Kingo Hayashi; “Chubu Electric Power”) have signed a basic agreement today after reaching a consensus on the introduction of automatic gas meter reading service to Ishikawa Shoji, using Chubu Electric Power’s smart meter communications network.

Ishikawa Shoji has used phone lines to remotely acquire data such as LPG usage by custom-ers, alarm information regarding gas leaks, etc., and remaining gas levels, as well as to remote-ly shut off and restore LPG meters in a part of the supply area (within Mie Prefecture).

Under the agreement, wireless terminals will be installed on LPG meters in the supply area of Ishikawa Shoji starting in FY2021, and by implementing automatic meter reading, etc., using Chubu Electric Power’s smart meter communications network, enhanced customer service will be provided.

Chubu Electric Power will continue to help LPG, city gas and water service operators adopt automatic meter reading, using its smart meter communications network, as part of the community support infrastructure business designed to contribute to resolving social issues.
