  • First of all, I would like to talk about the inappropriate handling of customer information.
  • Currently, Chubu Electric Power Grid and Chubu Electric Power Miraiz are responding to the request for reports received from relevant government offices. We take this very seriously as this incident may impede fair competition among retailers due to leakage of customer information. We offer our deepest apologies.
  • In response to this incident, Chubu Electric Power Grid and Chubu Electric Power Miraiz respectively established an investigation committee to analyze the causes and develop recurrence prevention measures. On February 24, a joint meeting body of the three companies including our company will be established to confirm the validity and implementation status of recurrence prevention measures.
  • The Chubu Electric Power Group will make utmost efforts to enforce recurrence prevention measures, centering on the joint meeting to be established, so that a similar incident will never occur again.

  • I will be discussing the following matters today:
    • Start of hiring of specialist employees
    • Electricity demand and supply results for this winter

Start of hiring of specialist employees

  • First, I would like to talk about the start of hiring of specialist employees.
  • In Management Vision 2.0, the Chubu Electric Power Group raises the concept, “the growth and active roles of each and every one of our human resources is the essence of actual corporate value,” and the human resources strategy is strengthened and promoted such as creating an environment and mechanism where diverse human resources can play an active role.
  • In the human resources strategy, it is considered necessary to acquire human resources that can respond to changes in the business model and develop measures for diverse career development, based on the business environment of the Chubu Electric Power Group and changes in work attitudes. We are currently reviewing how we can realize this.
  • To acquire human resources, we have expanded the number of career hires to secure diverse human resources.
  • We need to acquire human resources with advanced and specialized knowledge and skills and maximize their performance in our Group, in order to continue securing stable supply of energy and accelerate the provision of new values that the community and customers seek.
  • For this reason, the three Chubu Electric Power companies have decided to start hiring specialist employees among career hires from April 2023.
  • Work details and expected missions will be specified in advance for specialist employees, and a system where bonus amounts vary greatly depending on achievements will be introduced to respond to those employees with fair compensation.
  • We will first aim to acquire advanced specialist personnel in global business which is a new pillar of revenue expansion as well as the DX area to sophisticate operations and develop new customer-driven services.
  • We would like to receive applications from many people who can become an immediate asset and have them demonstrate their abilities to the fullest in the Chubu Electric Power Group.
  • All employees of the Chubu Electric Power Group including current employees as well as career hires will work together to realize Management Vision 2.0 and achieve sustainable growth together with the community.

Electricity demand and supply results for this winter

  • Next, I would like to talk about the electricity demand and supply results for this winter in the Chubu Area.
  • From last December through yesterday (February 20), the maximum power in the Chubu Area was recorded on January 25 at 24,640 MW, which was the highest ever recorded in the winter.
  • On this day (January 25), solar power generation output decreased due to snowfall while demand for heaters increased due to the impact of the coldest wave of this winter, but we were able to stably deliver electricity with reserve rate of 6.3% in the Chubu Electric Power area thanks to the eight general power transmission and distribution operators including Chubu Electric Power Grid increasing supply capacity by utilizing power sources that had been secured through public subscription.
  • In addition to such measure on the supply side, we have prepared an energy-saving program that is more expanded than the one in last summer utilizing government subsidies, as a measure on the demand side to have customers efficiently use electricity this winter.
  • In specific, we expanded the demand response service, which asks customers to save energy or change electricity usage hours according to the electricity supply and demand situation and generation of renewable energy, to corporate customers. We also introduced a service that offers discounts on electricity rates or rewards points if the month’s electricity usage is reduced by more than 3% compared to the same month of the previous year.
  • Approx. 600,000 corporate and household customers have joined the energy-saving program. We are very grateful for their support toward stable supply of electricity.
  • Thank you very much to our customers including those who are in the energy-saving program for their cooperation in saving electricity this winter as we did last summer.
  • Reserve rate of the Chubu Area next month (March) is 11.5%, and we expect to continue to secure stable supply. However, electricity demand may increase due to temperature drop like last March or unplanned shutdown of the power station may occur.
  • We would like to ask our customers for your continued cooperation in saving energy to the extent that it is reasonable.
  • The environment surrounding the energy business continues to be tough, but the Chubu Electric Power Group will continue to take all possible measures to secure stable supply by making all-out efforts to address both supply and demand sides.
