June 2013 Regular Press Conference : Chairman Mita's Message

June 26, 2013
Chubu Electric Power Co.,Inc.

  • I am Toshio Mita, Chairman of Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc.
  • Today I would like to discuss our 89th General Meeting of Shareholders.

General Meeting of Shareholders

  • I would like to report that the General Meeting of Shareholders was concluded today without incident.
  • This year's General Meeting was the fifth-longest in our company's history, lasting 3 hours and 23 minutes. It was also the tenth-largest, with 1,449 shareholders in attendance.
  • In addition to being provided with a report on Chubu Electric’s business status for fiscal 2012, attendees at the meeting deliberated on a total of nine resolutions, consisting of two proposed by the company and seven proposed by shareholders. The two resolutions proposed by the company were accepted by a majority of shareholders.
  • In addition, we provided straightforward answers to shareholders’ questions concerning the safety of the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station and other important management issues in the current severe business environment, including questions regarding the reprocessing of spent fuel, the use of pumped-storage hydroelectric power stations, and the appointment of external directors and female directors.
  • The business environment for our electricity business has changed significantly since the Great East Japan Earthquake, but the Chubu Electric Group will continue in its efforts to provide a stable supply of electricity and will work actively to provide a wide range of services to its customers.
  • At the same time, we will always contribute to the development of our regional community, seeking to earn the trust of our customers and our shareholders and investors, and to continue to be a company that they turn to.
